Homemade popcorn makes more racket
Than fireworks at New Year’s,
It tastes better than the stuff in a packet!
But you might want to cover your ears!
Getting Started:
Pour tablespoon of oil in the bottom of a large saucepan
Pour a layer of corn kernels, almost covering the base of the pan
Put the saucepan lid on
Place on a medium heat
It will be quite for a while then, just when you think it’s not working BANG! After a minute it will go crazy, then it’ll start to get quiet. A grown up should shake the pan a bit to make sure all the kernels have sunk to the bottom. Once it gets quiet, turn off the heat and carefully lift the lid.
Some Suggestions:
Try some different flavours such as caramel sauce or honey on your popcorn!
Tips!
Watch your child’s reaction as the kernels fall into the pot, the anticipation as you wait for the kernels to pop, the excitement as it suddenly gets very noisy.
