Bubble pictures

What You'll Need

  • Shallow Containers (A pie dish or casserole dish will do)
  • Paint
  • Washing up liquid
  • Drinking straws
  • Paper
  • 60 mins
  • Ages 4 - 7
  • Inside
  • Very Messy
It’s fun to mix up paint and soap
And make multicoloured bubbles,
But when you make a picture of it
Then your fun just doubles!

Getting Started:

  • Each container is going to have its own colour bubbles. You do this by putting water a and little washing up liquid in all the containers then adding a few teaspoons of a different coloured paint to each one.
  • Now place a drinking straw in each container and blow until the whole thing is full of bubbles. Make sure to blow and not suck, otherwise you’ll end up with a mouth full of coloured soapy water. Also, we advise you to use a different straw for each colour.
  • As soon as you’re happy it’s as bubbly as it’s going to get, place your piece of paper down on top of the container and hold it there for a couple of seconds, then pull it away firmly and gently.
  • You should have a wonderful coloured bubble spatter on your paper. Leave it to dry somewhere save where it won’t have dust blown on to it. Now go and try another colour.

You can try lots of different things. Once they are dry, you can add another colour and see what happens. Every picture is perfectly imperfect. No two pictures are the same!
